The Distinctive Features Of A Piano And Organ
The Difference Between A Piano And Organ
A piano and organ are musical instruments using a keyboard. But there are lots of differences between these instruments because of the distinctive features of a piano compared to an organ. The ease in playing the instruments alone can make a grand instrument and a keyboard unique and differ from each other. Some would say that it is easier to play an organ since the keys are light to touch while a playing a grand instrument requires a harder strike on the keys to produce sounds.
So that approves the statement of some music instructors that if one intends to learn how to play a keyboard musical instrument, it is better to start with a grand instrument. It will be easier then to play the keyboard once a person already knows how to play the instrument.
The vibration may prolong for a short time, but ultimately disappear and the performer needs to strike the key again to sustain the sound. A musical keyboard, on the other hand, has keys that do not materially strike any other attachments. The keys are also tuned to specific frequencies, but the individual sounds can be held for as long as the performer wants to and as long as the music requires a prolonged note, without the need for the keys to be pressed again.
Another difference is that an instruments initial control comes from the first strike on the keyboard. That means a pianist can immediately start a rhythm and melody lead. So most of the time, a piano, when played with other instruments, gives the introduction to a musical piece. In this aspect, an organ is more of following the other instruments. This is because of its sustaining key effects. It is more of supporting the other instruments like covering some notes that other musical gadgets cannot fill in.
The instrument keys only have one, distinct sounds with pitch. While the keyboard keys can be set to create different sounds. They can produce the sounds of other musical instruments by just adjusting or pressing some buttons to reveal the feature. Some buttons even give extra accompaniments on every strike of the musical keys, which keep on playing even without pressing any key.
This musical instrument is more on playing contemporary music while an organ is more on producing modern sounds with different back-up reverberations. That makes the grand instrument a lead instrument for a choir, being responsible for the initial blow on the song. While the musical keyboard plays as the supporting instrument to fill in the part that cannot be covered by the other instruments.
